In the fifties, a vast piece of land, located between the Gulf of Alghero and the Porto conte´s bay, was drained and granted to some farmers, which started to test different methods of viticulture. Soon, they found out the best method for that type of soil; and the results given were very promising: they achieved a high-quality product that dominated the market from the first years. The farmers decided then to establish a ´Cantina Sociale´ in the same area of production with the name of ´Santa Maria della Palma´.
