ISOLA Project: Sardinian Artistic Craftsmanship Reaches the World

Through the "ISOLA - Artigianato di Sardegna" project, promoted by the Regional Department of Tourism, Handicrafts and Commerce of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia, the island's airports have become authentic showcases celebrating and promoting Sardinia's cultural identity.
At Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport, the Kara Sardegna stores, operated by Cortesa S.r.l., are strategically located to accompany travellers throughout their journey, both in the Landside area (before security screening) and the Airside departures area, close to the boarding gates.

The Kara Sardegna spaces showcase the work of 26 carefully selected artisans, representing the finest traditions of Sardinian craftsmanship. Visitors can discover an exceptional selection of handcrafted creations, including:
- Textiles and rugs woven using traditional techniques
- Artistic ceramics, leather goods, woodwork, stone carvings, and handcrafted glass
- Iron and metal craftsmanship
- Traditional Sardinian jewellery, from exquisite filigree, coral, silver, and gold creations to contemporary designs featuring innovative materials and gemstones
The ISOLA project is also present at Alghero and Cagliari airports, reinforcing Sardinia's airport network as a unified promotional platform for local craftsmanship.
The objective of this collaboration is clear: to bring the artistic heritage of Sardinia to the world by offering the millions of passengers travelling through the island's airports the opportunity to discover, appreciate, and take home an authentic piece of Sardinian culture. It is a tangible example of successful cooperation between public institutions, airport infrastructure, and the retail sector, transforming key travel hubs into prestigious international showcases for Made in Sardinia.
