Grape variety: Vernaccia di Oristano.

Production area: Province of Oristano, Sardinia.

Climate of the area: Warm temperate with an average annual temperature of around 16 ºC.

Soils: They are alluvial “Gregori” soils, that is light yellowish-brown soils, generally characterized by loam or clay loam texture with soil skeleton up to 60%.

Vineyards: Trained using the espalier system with classic Guyot pruning.

Grape yield per hectare: 3.000 - 5.000 kg.

Winemaking: In white, destemming and crushing, soft pressing and fermentation at controlled temperature.

Ageing: It takes place in small chestnut barrels (5-7 hl) which are 1/5 empty to encourage “flor” yeasts´ rise. “Flor” is a film which forms on the surface of Vernaccia wine immediately after the end of fermentation. It consists of Saccharomyces yeasts which use ethyl alcohol and acetic acid for their metabolism forming acetic aldehyde, precursor of wine typical aromas.

Colour: Golden yellow that takes on amber undertones with ageing.

Bouquet: Intense, ample, ethereal, with its characteristic note of almond blossom.

Gustatory analysis: Dry, tasty, very warm, full-bodied, soft. It is harmonic, its taste is intense and of fine quality, its aroma is lingering.

Pairing: Excellent aperitif, rich meditation and conversation wine. At the end of the meal it pairs well with some Sardinian sweets, especially “amaretti”.

Serving temperature: 15 - 18 ºC.

Alcohol content: 17 %
